About the position

The Director, Purchaser Contracting is a key leadership role within GSK's US Market Access Operations & Analytics group. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of purchase-based contracting that supports various commercial contracts, including GPO, sGPO, Long Term Care, and Vaccines. The role involves leading a team of contracting professionals, collaborating with internal stakeholders to develop contracting strategies, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop a team of contracting professionals based in Durham, NC and Philadelphia, PA.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to develop contracting approaches for new and existing business strategies.
  • Prioritize team deliverables while balancing strategic, operational and legal contract language guidance.
  • Develop GSK purchaser contract templates based on approved product/customer segment contracting strategies.
  • Evaluate current contracts to determine necessary revisions due to changes in public policy, strategy, or new products.
  • Ensure terms and conditions are compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Resolve disputes with customers over specific terms and conditions.
  • Quantify potential monetary impact of disputes and escalate for Senior Management review as appropriate.
  • Partner with internal and external compliance/audit stakeholders.
  • Respond to internal requests regarding contractual issues and lead special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7+ years of pharmaceutical manufacturer experience in purchase-based contracting, contract authoring and/or payer market access
  • Experience in pharma contracting language that supports growth and balances risk
  • Experience with advanced modeling and forecasting tools
  • Experience with PowerBI

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA or advanced degree
  • Experience and understanding of US Market Access business dynamics and customers
  • US-based experience with market access payer strategies, account management interface, government pricing, contracting, reimbursement and distribution concepts
  • Supervising, coaching, and evaluating teams in a leadership capacity
  • Problem solving, systems modernization and/or change management experience
  • Ability to employ highly effective decision-making strategies in resolving issues and conflicting options/priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication
