About the position

The Director of Procurement at AMD is responsible for coordinating the management and spending of foundry suppliers, focusing on wafer or post-fab/advanced packaging. This role involves developing a global procurement strategy, implementing supplier development programs, and building strong supplier relationships to support AMD's mission of transforming lives through technology. The position requires analytical support for sourcing strategies and cost improvements, while fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the management and spend of AMD's foundry suppliers, reporting directly to the Sr. Director of Procurement.
  • Develop the global procurement strategy for foundry and implement a supplier development program.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Provide analytical support and recommendations regarding sourcing strategies and requirements planning.
  • Develop processes and methods to implement new assignments and coordinate activities of other personnel as a team lead.
  • Collaborate with partners and foundry team members to develop negotiation strategies to drive cost targets.
  • Lead critical foundry procurement management processes, including NPI NRE enablement and Spend/Savings reporting.
  • Own the overall bidding process, including analysis, price negotiation, and driving business awards.
  • Implement contracts to minimize AMD risk and enable supplier accountability for non-performance.
  • Drive supplier performance reviews on contractual requirements to meet AMD's needs.
  • Lead Supplier Performance Management (SPM) and manage the quarterly scorecard process.
  • Develop and communicate a commodity strategy reflecting key partner inputs to AMD Senior Management Team.
  • Provide regular updates on progress against plans and collaborate on market research and benchmarking processes.

Requirements

  • Extensive Foundry or Semiconductor experience.
  • Strong Engineering background is a plus.
  • Strong Negotiation skills.
  • Supply Chain Management (SCM) experience.
  • NAPM/APICS & Green Belt Certification is a plus.
  • Understanding of regional and global markets and cultures.

  • Experience in a leadership role within procurement or supply chain management.
  • Familiarity with advanced packaging technologies.
