About the position

The Director of Purchasing at Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) is responsible for overseeing the procurement processes and ensuring that the district's purchasing activities align with its mission to provide equitable educational opportunities. This role involves managing purchasing operations, developing procurement strategies, and collaborating with various departments to meet the needs of the schools and the district as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the purchasing department and its operations.
  • Develop and implement procurement policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with school sites and district departments to assess purchasing needs.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal purchasing regulations.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors and suppliers.
  • Monitor and evaluate vendor performance and purchasing activities.
  • Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities to the district administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field (preferred).
  • Five years of increasingly responsible experience in the purchasing field.
  • Valid certificate as Certified Purchasing Manager (preferred).
  • Resume, letter of interest, three letters of recommendation, and transcripts or diplomas outlining post-secondary education.
