About the position

The Director of Purchasing at Riviana Foods Inc. is responsible for managing a significant portion of the company's expenditures, specifically overseeing approximately $328 million in annual spending. This role involves managing inventory purchases for domestic raw materials, packaging, and ingredients, while also establishing and maintaining co-manufacturing relationships both domestically and internationally. The Director will negotiate contracts, ensure compliance, and manage supplier relationships, while also collaborating with various internal teams to enhance product offerings and cost-saving initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Manage one of the largest categories of expenditure for the company, approximately $328MM in annual spend.
• Oversee all inventory purchases for domestic raw materials, packaging, and ingredients for Arkansas Operations.
• Establish and oversee domestic and international co-manufacturing relationships.
• Negotiate contracts and ensure compliance with supplier agreements.
• Review and guide a team of three buyers in sourcing and negotiating supply contracts.
• Monitor market and material trends to develop procurement strategies and implement action plans for favorable pricing.
• Collaborate with Consumer Marketing and Product Development teams to bring innovative products to market cost-effectively.
• Work with seven manufacturing facilities to meet cost-effectiveness and product quality objectives.
• Support capital project improvements related to the supply base.
• Assist in the development and implementation of Commodity Procurement initiatives for the US Rice Business.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Law or Business Administration.
• 48 months of experience in Food Manufacturing, Consumer Goods, Purchasing, or Packaging.
• Experience in Co-Manufacturing related to rice production and distribution.
• Experience in negotiating commodity/material purchasing in the food industry in Europe.
