About the position

Natera is seeking a Director of Research for the molecular biology group to lead the development of a new product line within the Women's Health portfolio. This role requires a strong background in molecular tools, NGS, and prenatal testing, along with significant leadership experience. The Director will collaborate with various teams to create innovative non-invasive tests for women's health, transplantation, and oncology, emphasizing communication and strategic direction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and ensure alignment with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Lead the molecular biology team, fostering an inclusive and innovative environment.
  • Oversee the design, execution, and analysis of research studies, ensuring scientific rigor.
  • Coordinate with other departments to align research efforts with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate research findings into product offerings.
  • Foster partnerships with external researchers and institutions.
  • Stay updated on developments in molecular diagnostics and prenatal medicine.
  • Drive the adoption of new methodologies and technologies to enhance research capabilities.
  • Present research findings to stakeholders and oversee the preparation of scientific publications.

Requirements

  • PhD in molecular biology or related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of post-PhD biotech industry experience.
  • Significant leadership experience in diagnostics.
  • Expertise in NGS, cell-free DNA, methylation, protein analysis, and other advanced molecular biology technologies.
