About the position

As the Director, Regional Planning & Strategy, you will play a pivotal role in American Airline's Regional Division. You will lead a centralized team supporting American Airlines' subsidiaries and managing relationships with Affiliate carriers. This fast-paced role involves working closely with C-suite leaders and key departments across the organization. Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a commitment to excellence are essential for success in this impactful position.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and implementation of regional planning and strategy initiatives that drive business results and support the company's overall goals of Profitability, Reliability and Accountability
  • Partners with the leaders of each airline in the portfolio to prioritize projects, measure success, and build consensus for various initiatives
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, external partners, and internal stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives and ensure alignment with company objectives
  • Make critical decisions on crew supportability levels, maintenance allocation, carrier base locations, and fleet planning, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and maximizing regional scope
  • Provide senior-level guidance and oversight in the budget planning process, ensuring alignment with the organization's long-term strategic objectives and stakeholder expectations
  • Oversees capacity purchase agreement negotiations and amendments that impact financial performance
  • Influences and engages with Network Planning on the capability and deployment of regional carriers
  • Maintains exceptional relationships with key players across various groups, including Finance, Network Planning, Pilot/AMT/FA Recruitment, Tech Ops, Customer Experience, Alliances, Ops Planning, Legal, and more
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve operational issues and adjust flight schedules as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Aviation, or a related field
  • 7 years of leadership experience in a strategic planning, operations, or management role
  • Proven track record of driving results and leading cross-functional teams

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Aviation, or a related field
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in a strategic planning, operations, or management role
  • Experience in the airline industry, with a deep understanding of regional airlines and their operations
