About the position

The Director, Relationship Manager in Franchise Finance at SMBC MANUBANK is responsible for sourcing and managing a portfolio of top-tier Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) brands. This role serves as the primary point of contact for clients, focusing on building and maintaining profitable relationships while cross-selling ancillary products. The position requires collaboration with various teams to deliver comprehensive financial solutions and involves significant client interaction and transaction management.

Responsibilities

  • Independently source and manage QSR transactions in top tier brands with annual revenues of $20MM to $500MM.
  • Manage a portfolio of existing franchisee accounts including small, medium, and large transactions.
  • Acquire, deepen, and maintain profitable client relationships through sales and prospecting.
  • Understand and interpret financial and cash flow statements to assess financial conditions and industry trends.
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers and analysts to structure transactions that fit within the Bank's credit appetite.
  • Work with Product partners in credit, deposits, and treasury management to deliver holistic solutions to clients.
  • Pre-screen new deals and add-on requests with Credit Administration and present transactions for credit approval.
  • Review and negotiate loan documents with clients and secure necessary approvals from Credit Administration.
  • Monitor the portfolio closely, identify weaknesses in credits, and take appropriate credit actions.
  • Assist PM/analysts in keeping portfolio ticklers current.
  • Coach and mentor peers as needed.
  • Adapt to changes in sales practices and market conditions as needed.
  • Conduct regular in-person meetings with clients and attend trade shows and lender meetings.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in Commercial Lending with a focus on Franchise lending.
  • Strong knowledge of various QSR/Fast Food brands and familiarity with underwriting guidelines in this cash flow lending vertical.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage an extensive portfolio of clients successfully.
  • Proven track record of prospecting new business and enhancing existing relationships.
  • Professional sales skills and experience, including planning, execution, and follow-up of client meetings.
  • Financial modeling experience and completion of formal credit training.
