About the position

The Director - Research Analyst at TD Bank is a pivotal role responsible for researching and analyzing companies to generate investment ideas that align with the firm's Shareholder Yield equity strategy. This strategy is grounded in a free cash flow methodology aimed at delivering investor returns through dividends, share buybacks, and debt reduction. The Director will focus on researching companies across various capitalizations, industries, and geographical areas, contributing to the firm's broader research efforts and actively participating in investment research meetings. The role requires a deep understanding of financial modeling and the ability to combine macroeconomic insights with fundamental stock-picking to drive positive performance over market cycles. In this position, the Director will generate and research investment ideas based on their expertise and experience, as well as ideas directed by the portfolio manager or generated through the firm's quantitative processes. The role also involves contributing to marketing and client service activities, including presentations and meetings with clients, prospects, and consultants. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, be a consummate team player, and demonstrate a commitment to building a firm that prioritizes client relationships and service excellence. Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze companies to generate investment ideas for inclusion in Epoch's strategies.
  • Contribute to the firm's broader research efforts by participating in investment research meetings and sharing knowledge.
  • Generate and research investment ideas based on personal expertise and direction from the portfolio manager.
  • Participate in marketing and client service activities, including presentations and meetings with clients and consultants.
  • Provide leadership, training, and guidance to other team members as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA and/or CFA preferred.
  • 10+ years of fundamental equity research experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in assigned strategy, sector, or geography using free cash flow metrics.
  • Highly developed skills in financial modeling and industry/company research.
  • Ability to research investment ideas across various sectors and geographies as necessary.
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills.
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision capability and effective feedback provision to portfolio managers.
  • Strong leadership skills with potential for increased responsibilities over time.
