About the position

About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 13 The Team: The S&P Dow Jones Indices Global Finance team is responsible for planning and analysis related to budgeting, forecasting, and partnering with all other functions across the business. The team values collaboration and the ability to think critically while problem solving. The role reports to the Senior Director of Finance. Impact and Responsibilities Impact: This role will provide support to the Finance, Commercial and Product Management teams. The Director will provide support for pricing, client retention and expansion of client use cases as well as analysis and forecasting related to both customer behavior and market dynamics for the division's ACV based business lines. This role will contribute value added analysis, supporting the finance team's strategic positioning within the company. We are looking for a candidate who will support the business' ACV based revenue growth plans with insights gained from analyzing company performance data. The ideal candidate is adept at combining analytic tools and techniques with business expertise to identify the key drivers of performance and opportunities for growth. They must be able to translate information into actionable insights to find opportunities for product optimization and use models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. The role requires experience building and implementing financial models using a variety of analytic tools based on data acquisition and data blending to drive decision making. The candidate will have the opportunity to present findings in group settings to members of the senior leadership team. Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Commercial Sales team by understanding various use cases for our line of Data products and providing actionable solutions related to client inquiries and insight into contract renegotiations.
  • Partner with the Data Product Management organization to enable line of sight into their product hierarchy and underlying growth drivers of current and new products while formulating projections on new product launches.
  • Key contributor to the ACV revenue forecasting and opportunity identification processes.
  • Create and update financial models to provide in depth revenue analysis for various products and their impact on the bottom line and dashboards to identify and track both short and long term growth trajectory.
  • Partner with senior Finance and Commercial leadership teams to develop annual new business targets.
  • Drive accountability.
  • Conduct research and synthesize large quantities of data into actionable analysis for management.
  • Manage the daily responsibilities and deliverables of two junior team members.
  • Understand and apply best practices related to revenue recognition and strong internal controls.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of experience related to financial planning and analysis, asset management or economic analysis with an emphasis on financial data use cases and growth models.
  • Adaptive to new technologies and platforms, passionate about solving business problems.
  • Strong Excel and data manipulation skillsets.
  • Experienced in dashboard design and focused, thoughtful visual display of quantitative information utilizing Tableau, Power BI or other similar tools.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and see projects through to successful completion.
  • Work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Data Science, Accounting, Economics or a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, self-motivated, focused, creative, quick learner, ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated interest in financial markets and securities trading.
  • Experience designing, building, and testing workflows in Alteryx to support analysis of large and complex data sets.
  • Proficiency/knowledge in PowerPoint, Smartview, Anaplan, or other database tools a plus.
