The Director of Risk Management at Ryder System will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial aspects and pricing strategies for the North American Fleet Management Solutions rental and lease insurance extension program. This position is designed for a remote work environment, allowing the successful candidate to operate from home while managing a team of finance and insurance professionals. The Director will be responsible for ensuring that all insurance renewal data for policy underwriting is accurate and compliant with government requirements. This includes collaborating with external brokers and maintaining fiduciary responsibility around insurance policies and procurement. Additionally, the Director will assist with executive lines claims management and provide financial support and claims analysis to the claims team located in Colorado and Atlanta. In this role, the Director will direct all activities of the Lease and Rental Physical Damage Insurance underwriting and pricing team. They will oversee all planning, forecasting, and budgeting activities for both the Risk Management and Insurance Product Line departments. The Director will have the authority to approve or disapprove escalated insurance deals and will monitor the performance of the insurance product line, taking corrective pricing actions when necessary. A key aspect of this position is to maintain and improve insurance pricing and underwriting models, ensuring that appropriate cost assumptions and market dynamics are considered. The Director will also participate with senior management in setting pricing strategies aimed at driving profitable growth. Additional responsibilities include developing and presenting performance reports on the insurance product line to senior management and performing other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will possess strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to build and lead professional teams, and the flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This position requires a high level of analytical and financial modeling skills, as well as a deep understanding of insurance and underwriting practices.
