About the position

The Director of Road Freight for the U.S. and Mexico is responsible for developing and managing the Road freight capability within the region. This role aims to establish a leading global logistics organization by optimizing processes, ensuring compliance, and driving strategic growth. The director will oversee operations, develop business strategies, and lead a high-performing team to enhance service quality and efficiency in the Road freight sector.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the Road freight division's strategic vision and long-term goals.
  • Identify market trends, opportunities, and threats to inform business strategies.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and efficiency.
  • Lead the development and creation of the Road freight network and the corresponding branch offices.
  • Work with agency teams to create pricing and profit share models for various modes of transportation.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Road freight division, ensuring adherence to safety, compliance, and quality standards.
  • Optimize processes to improve cargo handling, routing, and delivery times.
  • Manage budgets, cost control, and resource allocation effectively.
  • Identify and pursue growth opportunities within the Road freight industry.
  • Expand the customer base and strengthen client relationships to drive revenue growth.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive global procurement strategy for Road freight services.
  • Analyze market conditions, competition, and cost structures to develop effective internal pricing strategies.
  • Oversee the negotiation, creation, and management of contracts with carriers and suppliers.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of managers and professionals.
  • Develop and manage the division's budget, revenue targets, and financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant aviation and logistics regulations.
  • Promote environmentally responsible practices within the Road freight division.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of senior management experience within Freight Forwarding and Logistics.
  • Proven track record in general management, preferably in a multinational environment.
  • Significant experience in managing cross-functional teams and demonstrated success in accountability for results.
  • Advanced knowledge of logistics processes, security procedures, and protocols pertaining to freight forwarding.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate, develop, and encourage others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in navigating structures, bureaucracies, and decision-making systems of large multinational corporations.
  • A sound understanding of the entire logistics industry.
  • Familiarity with new developments in the industry including index-based pricing and digital transformation.
