About the position

The Director of Safety at Vision Technologies is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all safety programs and initiatives across the organization. This role ensures compliance with safety regulations, promotes a culture of safety, and protects employees, contractors, and visitors from accidents and environmental hazards. The Director collaborates with various departments to integrate safety measures into daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and programs to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of safety programs and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
  • Stay current on safety regulations and conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance.
  • Identify and assess potential safety risks and lead investigations of accidents and incidents.
  • Design and oversee employee safety training programs to ensure proper safety procedures are followed.
  • Develop and manage emergency response plans and coordinate safety drills.
  • Ensure the availability and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety tools.
  • Generate safety reports for senior leadership and maintain accurate safety records.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the safety team, fostering a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in safety management or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards (OSHA, NFPA, EPA, etc.).
  • Ability to conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and accident investigations.

Nice-to-haves

  • OSHA certifications (e.g., 30-hour, 40-hour HAZWOPER, 500-hour) are advantageous.
  • Certified Safety Manager: Construction (CSMC)
  • Certified Safety Director (CSD)
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor certification.
