About the position

This is a highly visible national Sales Director position at Abbott, a global healthcare leader dedicated to helping people live more fully at all stages of life. The role entails managing a team of Regional, National, and Senior National Account Managers within Abbott Diabetes Care's consumer products, including the revolutionary FreeStyle Libre Continuous Glucose Monitoring System. The Sales Director will be responsible for developing new business in defined national and regional accounts while also growing the existing customer base. This includes determining customer needs, developing account-specific strategies, creating customer commitment to change, and implementing training and in-service programs. The position will focus on developing strategies for current and future products, including distribution and partnerships. In this role, the Sales Director will increase the sales and profits of the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Channel through effective management of sales activities. This includes leading, coaching, and developing subordinates to improve their leadership skills and exceed sales goals. The Sales Director will provide strategic and tactical feedback to marketing, direct the implementation of divisional sales and marketing programs, monitor performance, and adjust resources as needed. Ensuring that all activities fall within corporate compliance guidelines is crucial. The Sales Director will lead a team of up to 7 direct reports, including National Account Managers, and will be accountable for meeting ADC sales goals and objectives while optimizing resource use. Additionally, the role involves ensuring product availability nationwide through a network of providers by developing and nurturing customer partnerships, collaborating with internal stakeholders to identify strategic partnerships, and developing contracts to forecast demand effectively. The Sales Director will also assess the business impact of contracting opportunities, including overall profitability and impact on sales and margin. This position is critical for driving Abbott's mission to help people with diabetes manage their health more effectively and comfortably, ultimately revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels.

Responsibilities

  • Increase the sales and profits of the DME Channel through the management of sales activities of Sales Managers.
  • Lead, coach, and develop subordinates to improve their leadership skills and exceed sales goals.
  • Provide strategic and tactical feedback to marketing.
  • Direct the implementation of divisional sales and marketing programs.
  • Monitor performance and adjust resources as needed.
  • Ensure that all activities fall within the corporate compliance guidelines.
  • Lead a team of up to 7 direct reports, including National Account Managers.
  • Ensure that ADC sales goals and objectives are met while optimizing the use of resources.
  • Accountable for adherence to corporate ethical and compliance guidelines.
  • Develop procedures and systems that enable the business to grow in an ethical manner.
  • Ensure product availability nationwide through a network of providers by developing and nurturing customer partnerships.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify strategic partnerships, develop contracts, and forecast demand.
  • Assess business impact of contracting opportunities to include overall profitability and impact on sales and margin.

Requirements

  • Four year university degree; MBA preferred but not required.
  • 3 years of managing managers and leading large teams.
  • 5 years of sales management experience.
  • 2 years experience as a Marketing Director.
  • Cross sales channel experience is highly desired.
  • Analytical ability, negotiation skills, and contract/legal experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (including presentation and listening skills).
  • High energy level; positive attitude and confidence.
