About the position

The Director of Sales Strategy & Operations is a key member of the senior sales leadership team at Sysco, responsible for strategic planning and execution related to regional sales. This role involves translating corporate strategies into actionable regional initiatives, leading sales forecasting and planning processes, and ensuring alignment with financial goals. The Director will collaborate with various stakeholders to optimize sales performance and drive growth within the region.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the coordination and execution of corporate, market, or region initiatives among regional associates.
  • Translate center-led strategies into best-in-class regional strategic initiatives to maximize growth.
  • Influence senior sales leadership discussions to position Sysco to meet and exceed planned objectives.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve strategic initiatives and provide critical feedback to center-led teams.
  • Manage the regional execution of key priorities and strategic initiatives, including sales forecasting and planning processes.
  • Partner with Finance and Regional Sales Leadership to develop the region's financial plan and set clear sales targets.
  • Leverage advanced analytics to identify growth and sales targets.
  • Lead sales forecasting, planning, and processes within the sales organization, maintaining high levels of quality and accuracy.
  • Provide insights and data for resource allocation in territory sales roles.
  • Understand key metrics and their relationship to overall company goals.
  • Lead the execution of strategic projects and ensure results are carried through the regional sales organization.
  • Deploy standardized sales processes and practices for consistency and effectiveness.
  • Report and lead discussions on process tracking, KPIs, and dashboards.
  • Manage execution of customer retention processes and action plans.
  • Interpret data insights to align priorities on focus areas.
  • Ensure the sales organization has the best tools, training, and resources available.
  • Drive and manage special events such as food shows and customer events.
  • Stay current with Sysco's offerings and technology solutions.
  • Gather information on regional marketplace trends to position Sysco competitively.
  • Attend industry functions and provide feedback on market trends.
  • Develop strong working relationships with various stakeholders in the foodservice industry.
  • Communicate consistently to gain trust from team and leadership.
  • Adapt to change and support the team through transitions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or 10 years of sales experience, with 5+ years leading a B2B sales team.
  • Solid analytical problem-solving skills and familiarity with analyzing reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with senior leaders to develop unified sales strategies.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to plan and execute business plans.
  • Ability to coach and mentor peers and associates.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to influence stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
