About the position

The Director, Sales Technology at Gartner will report directly to the Vice President of Sales Technology and will be instrumental in the ongoing transformation of our CRM and Sales processes. This role requires a seasoned leader who can effectively drive sales productivity through innovative technology solutions. The Director will work closely with the Vice President of Marketing Technology to enhance our Marketing Automation efforts. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational agility, the ability to build trust-based relationships, and a goal-oriented mindset focused on creating long-term value. In this role, the Director will collaborate with leaders across Sales, Sales Operations, Marketing IT, and Business Units to identify and implement new opportunities that enhance sales productivity through cutting-edge sales and marketing technologies. The Director will manage a team of direct reports, overseeing their hiring, training, development, and performance assessments. Additionally, the Director will play a pivotal role in defining and delivering the long-term vision and roadmap for internal Sales technologies that support and drive sales productivity. The Director will also partner with the VP of Marketing Technology to establish a similar vision and roadmap for Marketing Automation technologies that facilitate prospecting processes for sales teams. Leading a cross-functional workstream on a CRM/SFA initiative, the Director will coordinate efforts among team members from both Business and IT sectors. Furthermore, the Director will guide IT development teams to ensure project objectives are met while continuously improving the quality and throughput of deliverables. Staying abreast of emerging marketplace capabilities, such as AI and Embedded Analytics, will be crucial for identifying new opportunities to enhance sales productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with leaders across Sales, Sales Operations, Marketing IT and BUs to uncover new opportunities to increase sales productivity through innovative technologies.
  • Manage a team of direct reports, including hiring, training, development, and performance assessment.
  • Lead the discovery, definition, and delivery of the long-term vision and roadmap for internal Sales technologies that support sales productivity.
  • Partner with the VP of Marketing Technology to define and deliver the long-term vision and roadmap for internal Marketing Automation technologies.
  • Lead the cross-functional workstream on a CRM/SFA initiative involving team members from Business and IT.
  • Direct IT development teams in delivering project objectives and improving the quality of deliverables.
  • Support leaders across Sales Operations and BU Partners to execute programs that drive sales productivity.
  • Stay current on emerging marketplace capabilities to identify new opportunities for sales productivity.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years' experience in sales operations and technology, with at least 2 years in consulting; experience with Sales and Marketing CRM applications is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years delivering and supporting B2B sales technology solutions on a major CRM platform (e.g., Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics), including 3 years of leadership experience.
  • Alternatively, a minimum of 7-10 years' experience as a Sales Engineer for a major CRM platform (preferably Salesforce).
  • Very strong project and program management skills with a track record of leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate messages to various audiences.
  • Deep knowledge of software delivery methods, particularly Agile methodologies.
  • Technical savvy with enterprise systems and IT development; practical experience applying AI to business challenges is a plus.
  • Advanced critical thinking, logic, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable issues.
  • Independent, self-starter with high integrity; strong collaborator and business partner.
  • A mix of consulting and industry experience is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
  • Recommended: BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; MBA is a plus.
