About the position

As the Director of Sales at Cohere, you will play a crucial role in driving year-over-year growth by developing and executing strategies to land new customers. Reporting directly to the VP of Sales, you will be responsible for leading a high-performance sales team, focusing on coaching and development to ensure long-term employee success. Your leadership will be pivotal in cultivating a sales culture that surpasses revenue targets and meets organizational goals. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Sales Managers, Account Executives, and other stakeholders to align on sales strategies and objectives. You will manage sales teams in the field, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with enterprise-sized and Fortune 100 key client prospects to drive revenue growth and enhance customer satisfaction. Your responsibilities will also include providing ongoing training, guidance, and support to Sales Managers and their teams to enhance their skills and performance. You will analyze data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth and optimization, and monitor and report on sales team performance, including key metrics and KPIs, to senior management. This position requires a strategic thinker who can develop and execute effective sales strategies while fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and collaborate with Sales Managers and Account Executives to align on sales strategies and objectives.
  • Drive and manage sales teams in the field, establishing strong relationships with enterprise-sized/F100 key client prospects.
  • Provide ongoing training, guidance, and support to Sales Managers and their teams to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Analyze data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth and optimization.
  • Monitor and report on sales team performance, including key metrics and KPIs, to senior management.

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience managing sales managers and leading sales efforts at a Software/SaaS (or similar technical) organization.
  • Strong experience building, mentoring, and coaching sales leadership and teams.
  • A proven track record of consistent over-achievement of quota and revenue goals.
  • Experience identifying, developing, negotiating, and closing large-scale complex enterprise-sized sales cycles.
  • Sales management skills including planning, negotiating, forecasting, organizing for results, hiring, leading, and evaluating people.
  • Superior interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute effective sales strategies.
