About the position

As a Director or Senior Director for the Portfolio Tax Services practice at Alvarez & Marsal, you will play a pivotal role in managing tax compliance and consulting projects specifically tailored for portfolio companies of private equity funds. This position requires a deep understanding of the complexities involved in the lifecycle of these companies, including M&A transactions, debt modifications, and restructuring efforts. You will be responsible for overseeing various company lifecycle events, such as partnership capital account maintenance, special allocations of income and liabilities, acquisitions, divestitures, and exits. Your expertise will be crucial in advising clients on the tax implications of M&A deals, ensuring that they navigate these transactions effectively and efficiently. In this role, you will also be tasked with building and maintaining strong client relationships, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of their businesses and the unique challenges they face. You will conduct day-to-day management of accounts, ensuring the delivery of timely and accurate work products. A significant aspect of your responsibilities will involve supervising, developing, mentoring, and motivating the Associate and Senior Associate team. You will actively participate in their professional advancement through on-the-job training, providing performance feedback, and fostering a collaborative team atmosphere. Additionally, you will assist with business development efforts, including identifying opportunities for add-on business, thereby contributing to the growth and success of the Portfolio Tax Services practice. Responsibilities

  • Manage tax compliance and consulting projects for portfolio companies of private equity funds
  • Manage company lifecycle events including partnership capital account maintenance, special allocations of income and liabilities, acquisitions, divestitures, debt modifications, and exits
  • Advise clients on tax implications of M&A deals
  • Build client relationships and demonstrate a working knowledge of client businesses
  • Conduct day-to-day management of accounts to ensure delivery of timely and accurate work product
  • Supervise, develop, mentor, and motivate Associate and Senior Associate team members
  • Assist with business development, including add-on business opportunities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation required
  • CPA or Bar Admittance required
  • 8 years of tax compliance and consulting experience in public accounting or professional services
  • Proven excellent communication skills with management and clients are required
