About the position

The Director of Social & Content for Maybelline DMI at L'Oreal is a pivotal role that combines strategic vision with hands-on execution in the realm of social media and content creation. This position will initially be based in the ITC - Jersey City, NJ office, with a future relocation to the Hudson Yards - New York office. The successful candidate will report directly to the Vice President of Digital and will be responsible for shaping and driving the social vision and strategy that aligns with the brand's equity and consumer engagement. The role requires a deep understanding of consumer habits, social platforms, and content production, ensuring that all initiatives resonate with the target audience and drive engagement across global and local channels. In this role, the Director will lead the conceptualization and creation of brand content, ensuring it is not only impactful but also culturally relevant and engaging. The position demands a creative thinker who can push the boundaries of traditional content, making it more surprising and talkable. The Director will manage global brand content productions, oversee agency collaborations, and ensure that all content aligns with the brand's DNA. Additionally, the role involves integrating social listening into the content strategy to derive insights and trends that inform future campaigns. The Director will also be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with counterparts globally, ensuring the best practices in social content are adopted and implemented effectively. This position is not just about managing content but also about leading a high-functioning team, fostering a collaborative environment, and driving innovation in social media strategies. The ideal candidate will have a passion for beauty, a strong understanding of the digital landscape, and the ability to think strategically while executing tactically.

Responsibilities

  • Create and drive the social vision and strategy in line with brand equity.
  • Execute social media initiatives across global and local organic channels.
  • Push the limits of content to be more surprising and culturally relevant.
  • Manage global brand content productions from conception to completion.
  • Drive the creation of impactful brand content that resonates with consumers.
  • Integrate social listening into content strategy for insights and trends.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of related business experience in Social, Content, Communications, or Marketing.
  • In-depth knowledge of consumer habits, language, and engagement methodologies.
  • Experience with content production and social platforms best practices.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Quantitative data analysis skills.
  • Proven leadership and project leadership experience.
  • Ability to think strategically and drive social vision internally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
  • Mac proficiency and a passion for makeup and social creation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Beauty industry experience is a plus.
  • Experience with eCommerce platforms and marketing campaigns.
