About the position

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) is seeking a Director of Social and Digital Marketing to lead the development and execution of impactful social media campaigns and digital marketing strategies. This role is crucial in enhancing the organization's digital presence and driving engagement with its mission to address some of society's toughest challenges. The Director will report to the Head of Brand and Communications and will be a key member of the Brand + Communications team, which is dedicated to building trust and inspiring audiences to support CZI's initiatives. In this position, the Director will be responsible for creating shareable digital content and compelling social storytelling that resonates with diverse audiences. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the digital landscape and have a proven track record in developing comprehensive social media and digital marketing strategies. This includes expertise in multimedia content creation, community management, audience engagement, paid media, and analytics. The Director will also oversee a team of social media and digital marketing professionals, providing mentorship and guidance to foster their growth. The role requires a strategic mindset and excellent writing and editing skills to craft innovative content on complex topics. The Director will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop integrated digital campaigns that leverage various channels, including social media, email marketing, and events. Additionally, the Director will analyze performance metrics to optimize campaigns and demonstrate return on investment (ROI). Staying abreast of emerging trends and technologies in social media will be essential to continuously improve results and engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media and digital marketing strategy that aligns with the organization's mission, priorities, and target audiences.
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of high-quality, engaging content across a variety of social media platforms, ensuring consistency with brand voice and messaging.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive digital marketing strategies tailored to meet CZI's B2B, B2I, and B2D objectives.
  • Shape innovative and authentic content on complex topics for diverse audiences across multiple channels, including social posts, video scripts, graphics, and strategic communication plans.
  • Lead social media community and risk management, fostering meaningful interactions with followers and engaging with relevant influencers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and direct external agencies in the development of integrated digital campaigns.
  • Identify and build relationships with key influencers and partners to amplify the organization's message.
  • Review and analyze social media and digital marketing performance, using data to inform strategy and optimize campaigns.
  • Stay abreast of emerging social media trends and experiment with new approaches to improve results.
  • Manage and mentor a team of social media and digital marketing professionals.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in social media and digital marketing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • A deep understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, trends, and best practices.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft compelling content on complex topics.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing successful social media and digital marketing campaigns across various platforms.
  • Experience in managing executive social media presence and developing thought leadership content.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights.
  • Experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
