About the position

The Director, Social Media at United Way Worldwide (UWW) is responsible for developing and overseeing a comprehensive social media strategy aimed at enhancing channel growth and community engagement. This role is pivotal in building support for UWW's mission both locally and globally. The Director will collaborate with various cross-functional teams to ensure a consistent brand voice and effective social media presence, while also coaching and developing direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the organizational social media strategy to grow UWW's online presence.
  • Create a consistent and authentic brand voice across all social media channels.
  • Develop social campaigns in support of brand partnerships and fundraising efforts.
  • Coach and develop direct reports, ensuring appropriate division of work.
  • Create compelling content for various social channels and oversee visual content production.
  • Set goals, measure performance, and optimize strategy based on insights.
  • Manage the social content calendar and organic content across all UWW social channels.
  • Conduct social media listening and optimize opportunities to increase audience engagement.
  • Manage external agency/vendor partnerships related to social media.
  • Lead and optimize all processes related to social media management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in content creation and social media management.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing social media strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of social platforms and emerging trends.
  • Strong experience with social listening and community management tools.
  • Understanding of SEO optimization practices.
  • Experience managing communities and responding to inbound comments/messages.
  • Experience in managing and developing direct reports.
  • Strong cultural competencies and ability to communicate effectively to a diverse audience.
  • Solution-oriented, strategic thinker and communicator.
