About the position

As the Director of Social Media at Chegg, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in shaping the brand's online presence and engagement with students. This position is designed for an innovative and culture-driven individual who is passionate about connecting with youth audiences through social media. You will work closely with the Head of Brand to develop a comprehensive strategy that aligns with Chegg's business goals, focusing primarily on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Your mission is to create a vibrant and engaging social media environment that resonates with students and fosters community growth. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting a vision for Chegg's social media presence from the ground up. This includes establishing best practices for community management, channel strategy, and content creation that reflects current trends and cultural moments. You will lead the messaging and content strategy for various company initiatives, ensuring that all social media content is timely, engaging, and shareable. Additionally, you will manage the social media content calendars and oversee the ideation and creation of content that aligns with Chegg's brand voice. Analytics will be a key component of your responsibilities, as you will provide insights and reports on social media performance, helping to set realistic project goals and benchmarks for cross-functional teams. Collaboration is essential in this role, as you will work with various departments, including Public Relations, Product, and Customer Service, to support their messaging goals. You will also mentor a Social Media associate, guiding them in their professional development and ensuring the team's success in executing a high-output content strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a vision and strategy for Chegg's social media presence that aligns with brand and business goals.
  • Deliver a social-first approach through engaging and timely content that encourages sharing.
  • Lead the messaging and content strategy for company initiatives, including campaigns and product features.
  • Manage social media content calendars and oversee the ideation and creation of content.
  • Provide ownership and oversight of analytics reporting, offering insights and setting project goals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support messaging goals across various teams.
  • Work closely with Creative partners to ensure brand voice consistency.
  • Educate the team on evolving best practices across all social media platforms.
  • Oversee and mentor a Social Media associate.

Requirements

  • 6-8 years of demonstrated social media leadership experience at a major brand or creator account, preferably in tech, lifestyle, or services.
  • Strong understanding of trends across general and niche audiences.
  • Experience with video production and editing tools for social platforms.
  • Ability to create against a high-output content strategy.
  • Deep understanding of key KPIs and measuring social success.
  • Proficient writing skills with an understanding of audience communication styles.
  • Passion for current culture, including sports, fashion, entertainment, music, and art.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Business, Sports Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
