About the position

As the Director of Social Media at Expedia Group, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the social media strategy for our global brands. Reporting directly to the Sr. Director, Global Head of Social Media, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with Expedia Group's overarching business goals. This position requires a strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment and possesses the leadership skills necessary to guide a talented team of social media strategists and specialists. Your primary focus will be to ensure that our social media presence is not only engaging and inspiring but also drives measurable business results. In this role, you will partner closely with the Global Head of Social Media to operationalize the social media strategy across various platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, and LinkedIn. You will oversee the day-to-day implementation of the strategy, providing strong strategic recommendations to enhance our social media content and build stronger communities around our brands. Your leadership will foster a collaborative and creative environment within your team, enabling them to produce high-quality content that resonates with our audience. Staying current with the latest social media trends will be crucial, as you will identify opportunities to leverage new platforms and features that cater to specific regional and local audiences. You will also be responsible for tracking and analyzing social media performance metrics, managing budgets effectively, and developing strong relationships with cross-functional partners to achieve business objectives. Your passion for travel and the tourism industry will be essential in understanding the social landscapes of various markets and driving the success of our social media initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Global Head of Social Media to develop, implement, and operationalize a comprehensive social media strategy across our brands.
  • Oversee, manage, and develop strong strategic recommendations on the day-to-day implementation of the social media strategy and BAU content across Expedia Group's brands and platforms.
  • Create consistency and rigor across social for Expedia Group's portfolio of brands.
  • Lead and mentor a team of social media strategists, inspiring, building, and fostering a collaborative and creative environment across the team.
  • Manage operations of a best-in-class social organization that inspires travel globally, regionally and locally.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest social media trends and identify opportunities to leverage new platforms and features.
  • Track and analyze social media performance metrics, including paid boosting social campaign performance, identifying areas for improvement and reporting on key results.
  • Manage social media budgets and resources effectively, optimizing spend across diverse markets and business units.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional partners to deliver business results.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in social media marketing, with a proven track record of success in a leadership role.
  • Minimum 5 years managing and leading large global teams.
  • Agency experience is preferred.
  • Experience in strategy and execution running Social at global brands with a clear voice in social.
  • In-depth knowledge of major social media platforms and best practices, including paid boosting advertising strategies.
  • Strong understanding of social media analytics and reporting tools, with the ability to translate data insights into actionable strategies.
  • Passion for travel and the tourism industry, with a keen understanding of regional and local market social landscapes.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute complex plans.
  • Proven ability to manage high-performing social media teams.
