About the position

The Director of Software Engineering - Application Frameworks at Toyota Financial Services (TFS) will lead a team of engineers to develop and deliver best-in-class application frameworks and tools. This role is crucial for enhancing the platform engineering offerings for development teams, ensuring that technology initiatives align with business requirements and industry trends. The position emphasizes leadership, technology strategy, vendor management, and fostering a collaborative environment to drive innovation and excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for technology initiatives to deliver best-in-class application frameworks and tools.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technology solutions that enhance employee experience.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve and innovate technology offerings.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Evaluate vendor performance, negotiate contracts, and drive value-added partnerships to support technology initiatives.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise as a software engineering leader with experience in designing and implementing modern 12 factor application frameworks.
  • Practical knowledge of cloud platforms, advanced software design patterns & architecture, operations, and software engineering.
  • Solid technical foundation with relevant experience in Java, Springboot, NodeJS, REST API, real-time streaming architectures, and microservices architecture patterns.
  • Proven track record of delivering scalable cloud-native solutions addressing cross-cutting concerns like logging, application testing, and application security.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
