About the position

Walmart is seeking a passionate DevOps Leader to address large customer challenges across a horizontal organization. The role involves building reusable technologies for customer acquisition, onboarding, and merchant empowerment, focusing on end-to-end supply chain fulfillment in both e-commerce and physical stores. The DevOps functional owner will collaborate with various teams to establish a robust DevOps strategy, define a technical roadmap, and foster a strong culture of ownership within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Build, develop and guide high-performing talent.
  • Define a long-term talent strategy across technology.
  • Provide supervision, mentoring, and development opportunities for the team.
  • Help define the technical and process roadmap and own the entire DevOps end-to-end.
  • Work closely with various business stakeholders to drive execution of multiple business plans and technologies.
  • Improve, optimize, and identify opportunities for efficient support and development processes.
  • Handle budget planning, spending, and tracking for your area of responsibility.
  • Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Drive changes across multiple areas spanning domains.
  • Set, define, and implement best practices and industry standards to raise the quality bar in DevOps.
  • Focus on generating intellectual property assets on DevOps tools and techniques.

Requirements

  • An Engineering Degree - B.E/B.Tech/MS/PhD in any stream, preferably Computer Science.
  • 18+ years of relevant experience leading operations/development teams for large customer bases.
  • Knowledge of industry's legal rules and guidelines.
  • Experience in executing at least two transition projects and setting up successful operations teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles (e.g., supply chain, finance, customer service).
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and managing budgets and financials.
  • Systems, software engineering, and architecture knowledge.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies such as Cloud, Distributed computing, and big data.
  • ITSM knowledge and industrial best practices.
  • Strong development background, preferably in Java/J2EE.
  • Good understanding of CS fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving.
  • Experience across the product development SDLC.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area with 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences and knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices.
