About the position

The Director of Software Engineering at Fidelity Investments will lead the Wealth Solutions Engineering team, focusing on Financial Planning & Advice. This role involves providing engineering expertise, driving product delivery, and fostering a collaborative environment to enhance technology solutions that support customer financial decisions. Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering expertise and thought leadership across product management, engineering, and human-centric design teams.
  • Collaborate with squad leaders to prioritize technical efforts and provide input on product features and capabilities.
  • Work with architecture and platform engineering teams to set technical direction and ensure alignment with technology strategy.
  • Drive scale and reuse by leveraging platforms and capabilities.
  • Continuously improve engineering and operations practices to increase efficiency.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and contribute to advancements in technical areas of expertise.
  • Build and promote the vision, roadmap, and expectations for the chapter community.
  • Define and implement a workforce plan to attract, hire, and retain top talent.
  • Make decisions on standards, resources, and overall direction of work within the chapter.
  • Manage talent reviews, performance, compensation, goal setting, and development for chapter members.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion through inclusive hiring practices, mentoring, and coaching.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of leadership experience managing technology teams with a focus on technology product management.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and agile delivery skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across business units and with leadership to align chapter objectives and standards.
  • Proficiency in building digital experiences using Angular, TypeScript, NodeJS, and automation tools in a cloud-based environment (AWS, Azure).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with continuous delivery infrastructure (Jenkins, Concourse).
  • Familiarity with financial planning and advice technology solutions.
