About the position

The Director of Software Engineering is responsible for driving innovation and leading engineering teams to integrate web and mobile applications with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. This role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of seamless digital solutions that align with Empower Pharmacy's mission to expand access to affordable medications, while also shaping modern software practices and leading impactful initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical leadership and drives innovation in solution development for enterprise platform teams, integrating web and mobile applications with ERP and CRM systems.
  • Leads distributed engineering teams to build services for pharmacy operations, ensuring on-time, high-quality project delivery within budget.
  • Drives platform strategies in collaboration with Digital Product Teams, Data Teams, Enterprise Architecture, and Digital Engineering to align solutions with business needs.
  • Oversees delivery of enterprise-wide digital services, including microservices and APIs, while fostering modern software architecture practices and agile processes.
  • Acts as a strategic thought leader, managing 24/7 platform operations, setting key metrics aligned with KPIs and OKRs, and ensuring efficient use of cloud platforms.

Requirements

  • Over 12 years of experience in digital technology, software engineering, and backend development.
  • 10 years of management experience leading teams through the full software development life cycle.
  • 5 years overseeing cloud or application platform implementations using microservices, event-driven, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Expertise in ERP, C#, Java, Node.js, Angular, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft Azure.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Extensive experience managing digital development teams and designing event-driven architectures with Kafka.

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including managing complex integrations and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build strong customer relationships.
