About the position

The Director of Software Engineering at MedicareMD.com is responsible for leading the modernization of the Dentrix software platform, which supports various aspects of dental practice management. This role involves overseeing multiple development teams, aligning their efforts with product strategy, and ensuring engineering excellence. The ideal candidate will be proactive and independent, focusing on innovation and continuous improvement while mentoring team leaders and enhancing the user experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and advance multiple development teams, aligning their efforts with product strategy
• Lead hiring efforts, team growth, and industry adaptation to achieve market leadership
• Develop staffing strategies and manage recruitment processes
• Promote engineering excellence within your domain
• Improve developer experience for scalable, continuous delivery
• Mentor and inspire team leaders and their teams
• Ensure product security, compliance, and reliability
• Collaborate with senior leadership on vision and strategy
• Influence strategic commitments to enhance the user experience

Requirements

• Proven impact in senior engineering leadership roles
• Understanding of DORA metrics in a modern engineering organization
• Proficient in backend and frontend technologies, including RESTful API development
• Experience integrating internal and third-party services
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure
• Exceptional communicator and collaborator
• Skilled in leading within hybrid and remote environments
• Independent, proactive, and results-driven
• Empathetic, authentic, curious, driven, diligent, optimistic, and courageous

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
