About the position

The Director of Software Engineering at Moderna will lead teams responsible for developing and operating platforms that facilitate the manufacturing of personalized mRNA medicines, particularly for cancer treatment. This role involves overseeing complex workflows that integrate various systems across healthcare and manufacturing, ensuring efficient production and delivery of therapies. The director will manage cross-functional teams, collaborate with external partners, and drive the development of innovative solutions in a highly regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and manage top talent, ensuring alignment with team values and goals.
  • Foster team productivity through a collaborative environment and continuous improvement metrics.
  • Conduct technical reviews of architecture, design, and code to ensure quality and adherence to best practices.
  • Lead the development of a modular, service-oriented architecture compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Take operational ownership, ensuring rapid resolution of customer-impacting issues within SLA.
  • Define scope, estimate effort, and schedule engineering work in alignment with product priorities.
  • Champion advanced testing practices to ensure high-quality testing coverage and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across healthcare, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure platform success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience building, managing, and mentoring high-performing engineering teams.
  • Extensive experience in software engineering with expertise in modular service architectures and event-driven systems.
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies (React, Angular) and back-end languages.
