About the position

The Director of Software Engineering at Treace is responsible for leading software development projects aimed at creating advanced surgical planning tools for orthopedic surgery. This role combines technical expertise with project management to enhance patient outcomes through innovative software solutions. The position requires a strong background in software engineering, UI/graphics, and algorithm development, with a focus on automating medical imaging processes and creating patient-specific surgical plans.

Responsibilities

• Direct software development projects and lead engineering teams to create surgical planning tools.
• Own the technical vision and strategy for developing interactive surgical planning tools.
• Research and prototype algorithmic solutions for medical imaging segmentation and reconstruction.
• Lead internal and external development teams to address complex technical challenges.
• Define software development and testing strategies using industry-leading methodologies.
• Review and architect end-to-end software solutions for surgical planning.
• Conduct competitive product analysis and technology exploration activities.
• Engage in customer-facing activities to identify clinical needs and translate them into product requirements.
• Manage project budgets and collaborate with functional managers to achieve project goals.
• Establish strong relationships with cross-functional partners regarding project activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
• MS/PhD degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in software development.
• 5+ years of team leadership experience.
