The Director of Sports Social Media will play a pivotal role in shaping the social media landscape for The Best Sports in Town, reporting directly to the Senior Director of Social Media and maintaining a dotted line to the Executive Sports Editor. In this role, the Director will be responsible for building and managing a dedicated sports social media department. This includes developing and implementing processes for social-first storytelling that promotes engagement and maintains a comprehensive 24/7 team calendar of coverage. The Director will optimize content for the New York Post Sports social platforms, executing daily postings across various channels such as Facebook, X, Instagram, and TikTok, ensuring that all content aligns with the brand's guidelines and standards. The Director will lead a team focused on dominating breaking sports news, events, and trending topics, particularly within the New York metro area, both inside and outside of stadiums and arenas. They will also be tasked with developing and measuring growth strategies across all social channels, guiding the sports social team to achieve follower growth and engagement targets. Collaboration with the NYP Sports editorial team is essential, as the Director will sit with editors, attend daily meetings, and maintain constant communication with the sports staff. Additionally, the Director will work closely with sales and marketing departments to execute social media marketing campaigns and identify opportunities for collaboration with brands and influencers. Staying abreast of the latest social media technologies and best practices is crucial, as the Director will need to adapt to new tools, algorithm changes, and platform enhancements to ensure the department remains competitive and effective.
