About the position

The Director of Strategic Information Management (SIM) at Clark University is responsible for overseeing database management, advancement reporting, gift recording, data integrity, and data security. Reporting to the Senior Director of SIM, this role involves managing special projects, collaborating with various university departments, and ensuring accurate processing of donations. The Director is expected to bring strong management expertise and professionalism to achieve the division's goals while staying updated on best practices and technological advances.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily work of the Gift Processing and Records Processing staff to ensure accurate and prompt documentation of all pledges and gifts.
  • Develop and run reports to review data integrity of pledges, gifts, event registrations, and biographical updates, ensuring necessary corrections are made.
  • Create and refine statistical reports to show the performance of the Records Processing staff and improve processing times.
  • Run reports on the status of outstanding commitments, gifts in designation pending, adjustments, and write-offs monthly.
  • Review all correspondence from pledge and gift entry for completeness and accuracy before distribution.
  • Coordinate the feed process of transactions into the Financial Services database.
  • Distribute the daily gift report to University Advancement staff members.
  • Work with the Financial Services Office to reconcile all business transactions monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Establish and document departmental policies and procedures, updating manuals on donations processing policies and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Management, or a related field, or relevant work experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting, financial controls, and information systems.
  • Experience with relational databases; Raisers Edge experience preferred.
  • Ability to review concise research documents with attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft applications and report writing software.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, along with organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure with multiple requests from various sources.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in higher education administration.
