About the position

The Director of Strategic Marketing and Business Development at Abbott plays a pivotal role in the Heart Failure Division, located in Pleasanton, CA. This position is responsible for defining the product and partnership strategy for Acelis Connected Health (ACH) by leveraging existing capabilities in the U.S. to penetrate the top five international markets. The role is crucial for developing strategies that ensure continual growth and address the current and future needs of the business, particularly in wound care management, platform and partnership strategy, clinical and technical solution services, and international expansion. The ultimate goal is to drive rapid growth within the business by enhancing the product development plan through comprehensive analysis of the partner and competitive landscape, customer insights, reimbursement studies, supply chain management, and organizational requirements in international markets. In this role, the Director will collaborate closely with the ACH commercial team and clinician advisors to design effective product management strategies tailored to wound care management. The position also involves working with cross-organizational partners to create a robust partnership strategy for Abbott's Heart Failure platform, which may include joint ventures, partnerships, acquisitions, or licensing agreements. Additionally, the Director will work with services and commercial teams to develop innovative technical and clinical solution offerings for customers, while also collaborating with teams in APAC and Europe to establish go-to-market models for the top five international markets, utilizing existing infrastructure. A key aspect of this role is talent management; the Director will be responsible for recruiting, coaching, and developing organizational talent, fostering a diverse workplace that empowers all participants to contribute fully to organizational objectives. This includes overseeing the performance management of their team and providing guidance to peer team members. The Director will also provide direction to various levels of staff, including directors, managers, exempt specialists, and non-exempt support staff across different areas and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Define the ACH Product & Partnership strategy leveraging current Acelis capabilities in the US to top five international markets.
  • Develop strategies for continual growth in wound care management, platform & partnership strategy, and clinical & technical solution services.
  • Conduct studies on partner and competitive landscape, customer insights, reimbursement, and supply chain requirements for international markets.
  • Work closely with ACH commercial team and clinician advisors to design product management strategies across wound care management.
  • Create a partnership strategy for Abbott HF, including joint ventures, partnerships, acquisitions, or licensing agreements.
  • Develop new technical and clinical solution offerings in collaboration with services and commercial teams.
  • Collaborate with APAC and Europe organizations to create go-to-market models for top five international markets.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop organizational talent, fostering a diverse workplace.
  • Handle end-to-end performance management of the team and provide coaching and guidance to peer team members.
  • Provide direction to directors, managers, exempt specialists, and non-exempt support in various areas.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering or related field
  • 15+ years experience in the Medical Technology field
  • Extensive cross-functional team management experience
  • Experience managing digital solutions, acute care, software, and clinical services
  • Proven track record of working cross-culturally
  • Strong organizational skills, including program/project governance
  • Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills
  • Strong influence and negotiating skills with all levels of stakeholders
  • Experience with selecting and managing suppliers in a large multinational organization
  • Experience managing through others; leading teams with at least one level of management layer
  • Clear and competent communication skills in English
