About the position

The Director of Strategic Response at MillerKnoll is responsible for overseeing the Strategic Response department, which focuses on delivering effective sales responses for strategic business opportunities. This role involves setting direction, developing strategies for global and national opportunities, and leading teams to optimize specifications and visualization responses. The position aims to drive profitable growth and enhance dealer relationships while ensuring a sustainable approach to business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and set the direction for the Strategic Response department.
  • Direct and lead all activities, strategy, and processes of the Opportunity Room, Visualization, and Spec Optimization teams.
  • Engage with dealer partners on spec optimization to increase share of wallet.
  • Grow spec optimization capability at the dealership level and in strategic markets.
  • Participate in sales calls and presentations as required.
  • Report key findings and trends to corporate leadership for continuous improvement.
  • Manage, coach, train, and mentor the Strategic Response team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Design, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in a relevant design or project management role, ideally in the contract furniture industry.
  • 3 years of leadership experience with a proven track record of developing talent and delivering results.
  • Demonstrated high level of written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of field sales, customers, dealers, and their business challenges.
  • Proven time management skills and ability to work under shifting conditions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the contract furniture industry.
  • Familiarity with office automation and communication software.
