About the position

The Director of Strategic Sourcing (North America) at Arrow Electronics is responsible for leading the procurement team and developing sourcing strategies that align with the company's business objectives. This role involves managing significant annual spend, fostering relationships with vendors, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies. The director will work closely with senior leaders to influence planning and drive operational efficiencies across various non-IT functions.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a clear vision for the procurement team, aligning their goals with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Oversee and mentor a team of procurement professionals, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
  • Drive accountability within the team to create/update category strategies, maintain a pipeline of actionable projects, and forecast project success and savings.
  • Understand sourcing maturity, identify gaps, and partner with the business to act on opportunities that drive operational efficiencies, mitigate risk, and achieve financial savings.
  • Develop strategies to improve vendor performance, optimize the vendor base, and manage addressable spend.
  • Facilitate strong partnerships with strategic vendors and ensure engagements comply with legal, compliance, and procurement policies.
  • Achieve annual cost-reduction goals.
  • Deliver standardized commercial terms that comply with legal processes to minimize financial and contractual risks.
  • Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with global internal stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and vendors.
  • Enable increased diversity spend and operational improvement targets.
  • Oversee complex sourcing initiatives and contract negotiations.
  • Conduct stakeholder identification, assessment, and ongoing management.
  • Act as a change agent to support procurement best practices and process efficiency.
  • Execute communication plans, gain stakeholder input, and facilitate successful implementation.
  • Perform market research and maintain knowledge of business trends including industry changes, cost drivers, global pricing, market conditions, and economic indicators to identify new/alternate sources of supply.
  • Conduct benchmark reviews and complex financial analysis of vendor proposals for existing and new contracts.
  • Participate in regular vendor business reviews addressing performance, technology roadmaps, business growth strategies, and supply market changes.
  • Prepare and present business reviews to senior management regarding sourcing and contracting progress.
  • Approve new vendors and purchase requests.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional experience in Indirect Sourcing, Category Management, or Procurement.
  • Proven negotiation skills with the ability to influence executives both internally and externally.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to plan and make decisions effectively.
  • Experience fostering an inclusive, engaged, and diverse environment that supports all team members in achieving organizational objectives.
  • Experience in assigning and coordinating the work of cross-functional team members to accomplish project goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding complex contracts.
  • Demonstrated leadership and influence through participation in sourcing projects, contract negotiations, category strategy development, vendor reviews, executive briefings, and other relevant meetings.
  • Ability to develop presentation materials and present to all levels of the organization.
  • Proactive and collaborative approach to delivering superior internal client engagement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management preferred.
