As the Director of Strategy and Business Operations, you will report to the VP of Purpose/ESG/Health Equity and will be responsible for driving the development and implementation of the Purpose/ESG/Health Equity strategic plans. This role requires a strong ability to analyze complex business issues, manage divergent stakeholders, and integrate multiple concepts across functions. You will be expected to lead large-scale, enterprise-wide transformations while ensuring that strategies are clearly understood by all stakeholders and that the organization is achieving its strategic goals at an optimal pace. In this position, you will oversee the annual planning process to ensure alignment with key business partners and across Purpose/ESG/Health Equity. You will implement regular processes for sharing plans across the function and more broadly, while also monitoring the external landscape to stay abreast of industry and functional macro trends. Your responsibilities will include creating and executing an ongoing department governance framework that promotes collaboration, information sharing, and best practices. You will be accountable for continual process improvement, streamlining operations to reduce costs where possible, and managing operational calendars to support visibility to key events and milestones. Additionally, you will manage all Purpose/ESG/Health Equity scorecards and results reporting, including external benchmarking and measurement of overall performance. You will lead the planning and logistics of internal and external engagements for senior leaders, ensuring effective agenda development and management of the overall Purpose/ESG/Health Equity budget. This role is pivotal in ensuring that Bristol Myers Squibb continues to lead in the areas of purpose, ESG, and health equity, ultimately transforming patients' lives through science.

Responsibilities

  • Drive development and effective implementation of the Purpose/ESG/health equity strategy.
  • Ensure strategies are clearly understood by all stakeholders and that the organization achieves its strategic goals at the optimum pace.

  • Accountable for continual process improvement, reducing inefficient processes and unnecessary work across the department.
  • Lead and manage operational calendars to support shared visibility to key events and business milestones.
  • Manage all Purpose/ESG/health equity scorecards and results reporting, including external benchmarking.
  • Manage Purpose/ESG/health equity headcount and budget process that includes monthly reporting and measurement for all department members.
  • Lead and manage planning and logistics of internal and external engagements of senior leaders.
  • Accountable for agenda development and planning of all Purpose/ESG/health equity team meetings.

Requirements

  • 15 years of demonstrated experience in project management, strategy and operations, consulting; corporate affairs and pharmaceutical experience preferred.
  • Superior verbal and interpersonal communications skills, as well as strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Professional maturity and experience working effectively with executive leadership and governing boards.
  • Excellent writing and research skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong project management experience, with ability to develop and execute clear action plans.
  • Collaborative leadership style and commitment to developing an organizational culture that seeks different perspectives and embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Proactive, highly motivated self-starter with a high level of intellectual, professional, and interpersonal agility, combined with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to engage and persuade a wide variety of audiences.
