About the position

The Director of Supply Chain and Logistics at Kearfott Corporation is responsible for the strategic direction and management of supply chain and logistics functions. This role encompasses planning, scheduling, procurement, and organization of materials to support production, repair, and customer orders. The position requires collaboration with various departments to ensure inventory availability and optimize operations while maintaining rigorous production schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Develops the strategic direction for supply chain and logistics function.
  • Directs the management of material requirement planning, purchasing, warehousing, shipping, and receiving departments.
  • Ensures plans and activities of scheduling, procurement, receiving, and storing of materials meet production needs.
  • Collaborates with Contracts, Programs, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and other locations to achieve business objectives.
  • Assures inventory availability and movement of materials meet production and delivery schedules.
  • Develops materials management programs to minimize inventory costs and meet schedule requirements.
  • Provides alternate strategies for unforeseen contingencies.
  • Ensures accurate evaluation of inventory and production capacities in relation to commitments.
  • Assures team accountability for performance through clear direction and objective criteria.
  • Optimizes asset use to meet/exceed sales and production schedules.
  • Prepares and controls expense operating budgets for Materials Management group.
  • Creates meaningful metrics for team accountability.
  • Creates strategic operations plan including integration of S&OP and business development forecasts.
  • Drives production costs to the lowest possible level in collaboration with other sites.
  • Facilitates talent and skills development in the workforce.
  • Strives for operational excellence by providing quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost.
  • Continuously improves processes to minimize COPQ.
  • Mentors and coaches direct reports to enhance processes and operations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in materials management, production control, and supply chain within Aerospace environment with progressive management responsibilities.
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in engineering; advanced degree (including MBA) preferred.
  • APICS certification preferred; Green Belt required, Black Belt preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (IFS, SAP, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of FAR, DFAR, and CPSR requirements.
  • Direct experience with supporting audits (AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA, USG Cost and Pricing audits).
  • Experience in negotiating purchase orders, including blanket and long-term agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate status and recovery plans with customers.
  • Experience with Master Scheduling, S&OP, and Project scheduling required.
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, across all functions and levels of the organization.
  • Prior experience as a Small Business Liaison Officer required.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • US citizen with the ability to work on U.S. government programs and obtain a security clearance if needed.
