About the position

The Director of Software Development Engineering at Dexcom is a pivotal role responsible for leading a dynamic engineering team focused on developing innovative hardware and software solutions for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). This position involves providing technical leadership, managing engineering budgets, and fostering a collaborative environment to ensure successful product development and launch. The director will also build strong relationships with external partners and manage the complete product lifecycle, from concept to post-market support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for a team of software and hardware engineers.
  • Mentor and lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Develop and manage engineering budgets and resources effectively.
  • Define and execute partner technology strategies aligned with Dexcom's business objectives.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with key silicon vendors and external technology providers.
  • Manage the complete product lifecycle, including regulatory submissions.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless product development and launch.
  • Manage expectations and deliverables with customers and partners.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
  • 15+ years of industry experience, with 9+ years of successful management experience in relevant industry.
  • Proven track record of managing complex engineering projects.
  • Extensive experience building and managing software and hardware engineering teams.
  • Proficiency in developing and executing technology strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Deep understanding of product development lifecycles (Agile, Waterfall).
  • Experience delivering mobile applications (Android or iOS preferred).
  • Experience with FDA submissions is a plus.
