About the position

We are seeking an impactful and driven individual to lead the Company's Talent Development team. The Talent Development Director will play a critical role as the Company builds on its ability to recruit, develop, and retain the talent needed to support our customers now and into the future! The Director, Talent Development will be a strategic partner to division business leaders and HR directors while also being comfortable working directly with managers and employees. Reporting to the SVP, Chief People Officer, we seek an experienced talent development professional who has a desire to learn our business and grow our existing development, performance management, succession planning and career progression initiatives/programs. As the Company approaches its 100th anniversary in 2026, we are pleased to represent industry leading brands of Caterpillar, Hyster & Yale, SITECH, and others. We are seeking a leader who will help CTE shape the future of products and services that positively impact people's lives in the communities we serve. In the Director, Talent Development role, you will be responsible for the critical task of developing our people. As a trusted leader, coach, and expert in the field of organizational development, you will lead, develop, manage, and support strategies and programs designed to grow our people and create a top-notch employee experience. You will have impact throughout the employee lifecycle including talent development, organizational learning, succession planning, performance management and engagement. This is a hands-on, player coach role that will have significant engagement and influence with a diverse set of leaders, customers, and partners to make a big impact on CTE. Keys to success in this role include leveraging a data driven, enterprise mindset to develop and execute on solutions to complex Talent Development challenges, demonstrating strong stakeholder management, and inspiring your team to greatness.

Responsibilities

  • Partner collaboratively with Business Leaders, Hiring Managers, HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition and HR Shared Services to design and implement leadership and functional development strategies for the enterprise, with alignment to future business and talent needs.
  • Design, develop, and maintain a three-year talent Development strategy that is aligned to business growth trajectory.
  • Enable business leaders to drive high performance across the organization through organizational assessments, learning solutions, performance management, engagement, culture, career planning, succession planning and internal mobility programs.
  • Oversee and design programs to drive organizational growth and culture change, in support of the businesses strategic plan.
  • Own the oversight, evaluation and optimization of our LMS and performance management systems.
  • Expand training through design and delivery of high-quality learning solutions that address technical, sales, and leadership training and development needs in the business.
  • Provide direction and guidance for design and implementation of a comprehensive competency framework to determine, assess, and develop performance effectiveness.
  • Provide group and one-on-one coaching with leaders and employees to support leadership development, business decision-making, human resources management, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Partner with leadership on organizational effectiveness and design.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience in Talent Development, Talent Management or Human Resources
  • 4+ years of talent development leadership experience building and managing high performing teams.
  • Accomplished business leader with a record of delivering sustainable business results through best-in-class people practices.
  • Experience, managing, developing and leveraging Succession Planning and Performance Management programs to enhance employee growth and performance.
  • Experience developing and delivering leadership, management and technical training workshops and programs.
  • Proven ability to strategically design and implement impactful talent management systems that integrate across multiple businesses and locations.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, problem-solving, multitasking, and analytical skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the courage and confidence to challenge the status quo.
  • Knowledge of current talent development trends and best-in-class practices
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships at the C-level and manage complex initiatives across functions and divisions.
  • Proven track record of translating high level strategy into actionable operational plans.
  • Adept at handling competing priorities and responsibilities in a fast-paced, results driven environment.
  • Willing to travel 15% of the time.
