The Director of Tax will play a pivotal role in overseeing the tax accounting, reporting, and compliance processes as the organization undergoes significant growth and scaling. This position is critical to the business, requiring a strong focus on tax matters that are complex and multifaceted, particularly in a publicly traded, global organization with a high volume of transactions. The ideal candidate will possess a collaborative mindset, technical expertise, and a problem-solving approach to enable growth across various jurisdictions, often in the absence of established precedents. The Director will report to the Vice President, Controller, and will initially function as an individual contributor, with the potential to build a team as the company approaches commercialization and further international expansion. The role encompasses overseeing U.S. federal, state, and international tax compliance processes, including indirect taxes, subpart F income, GILTI, R&D credits, VAT matters, and expense allocations. The Director will provide strategic direction and technical guidance on all tax matters impacting the company, manage relationships with external tax advisors, and ensure compliance with all relevant laws through the review of tax returns and related documents. In addition to managing audits and collaborating closely with the Accounting team for policy setting and reporting cycles, the Director will advise management on the implications of new tax laws and proposed legislation. The role also involves pursuing refunds, credits, and incentives as the company expands into new markets, reviewing tax provisions for SEC filings, and overseeing transfer pricing documentation. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects and effectively communicate with senior management and stakeholders.
