About the position

The Director of Technical Accounting is responsible for establishing, developing, and documenting the company's global accounting policies. This role serves as the accounting subject matter expert for various non-standard accounting topics and involves assessing and documenting accounting treatments for transactions and contracts. The director will lead accounting-related projects, create presentations for senior management and the Board of Directors, and coordinate with external auditors and company leaders globally. The position allows for hybrid work, permitting two days a week from home.

Responsibilities

• Establish, develop, and document the company's global accounting policies.
• Serve as the accounting subject matter expert for various non-standard accounting topics.
• Assess, conclude on, and document accounting treatment for transactions and contracts.
• Advise, guide, and monitor peers regarding compliant accounting behavior.
• Lead accounting and accounting-related projects, including the implementation of new accounting standards and business and M&A projects.
• Create presentations and present to senior management and the Board of Directors.
• Work directly with external auditors on accounting positions and external filings.
• Coordinate work activities with other company leaders around the world.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• Seven (7) years of experience in roles such as Manager, Audit and Assurance, Manager, Certification Technical Accounting, Manager, Corporate Accounting, Director Financial Reporting, or related role.
• Experience with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and IFRS requirements.
• Experience in financial reporting and/or technical accounting for an SEC registrant or private company.
• Experience implementing best practices that require significant innovation for improving processes.
• Experience working directly with external auditors to resolve complex accounting and reporting issues.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
