About the position

The Director of Technical Program Management (TPM) at Capital One is responsible for leading programs that align with critical business goals and developing large-scale products and platforms. This role focuses on building solid platforms for mobile and web applications to enhance customer experiences across various banking services. The TPM Director will also contribute to the growth of the TPM discipline within the organization, leveraging industry knowledge to demonstrate the impact of effective technical program management.

Responsibilities

• Lead programs that deliver on critical business goals and build large scale products and platforms.
• Build solid platforms on mobile and web surfaces for Capital One customers.
• Pave the way for an expanding TPM discipline within the team.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the delivery life-cycle.
• Simplify technically complex issues and drive informed decisions across teams.
• Grow and develop a team of TPMs while establishing the foundations for the TPM practice.
• Collaborate across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to achieve project goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs
• Strong technical background in building highly scalable platforms, products, or services
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
• Excellent problem solving and influencing skills
• Experience as a TPM leader to grow and develop a team of TPMs
• Ability to simplify complex technical issues and drive decisions across teams
• Deep focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results

Nice-to-haves

• 7+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing
• 3+ years of experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services/architecture, preferably AWS
• 3+ years experience building highly scalable mobile products & platforms
• 3+ years of experience with Agile delivery
• 3+ years experience delivering large and complex programs
• Experience in building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment
• MBA or Master's Degree in a related technical field
