About the position

The Director of Technical Program Management at Capital One is responsible for leading programs that deliver on critical business goals and build large-scale products and platforms. This role requires a strong technical background, particularly in driving enterprise initiatives in the DevOps space, with a focus on automation. The director will influence cross-functional teams, support CI/CD pipelines, and enhance the TPM discipline within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead programs that deliver on critical business goals and build large-scale products and platforms.
  • Drive large scale enterprise initiatives in the DevOps space with an emphasis on automation.
  • Support programs involving mobile and web CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and release automation.
  • Influence leaders and cross-functional teams including engineers, product managers, and architects.
  • Grow and develop a team of Technical Program Managers (TPMs) and build the foundations for the TPM practice.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the delivery life-cycle.
  • Simplify technically complex issues and drive well-educated decisions across various teams.
  • Ensure exceptional cross-team collaboration to achieve project goals.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in technical program management.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing.
  • 3+ years of experience in building distributed systems and highly available services using cloud computing services, preferably AWS.
  • 3+ years of experience building highly scalable mobile products and platforms.
  • 3+ years of experience with Agile delivery.
  • 3+ years of experience delivering large and complex programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in building systems and solutions within a highly regulated environment.
