About the position

The Director of Technical Program Management (TPM) at Capital One is responsible for leading programs that align with critical business goals and the development of large-scale products and platforms. This role requires a strong technical background, particularly in data management and engineering, and involves influencing cross-functional teams, including engineers and product managers. The TPM Director will also focus on expanding the TPM discipline within the organization, leveraging industry knowledge to enhance team capabilities and drive successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead large scale enterprise initiatives in data management and engineering.
  • Drive the development of a world-class team of technical program managers.
  • Facilitate technology-focused discussions with senior leadership.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Build and analyze reports and KPIs to support data-driven decision making.
  • Simplify complex technical concepts for diverse stakeholders.
  • Foster exceptional cross-team collaboration to achieve project goals.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering and Observability.
  • 7+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing.
  • 5+ years of experience with data analytics or machine learning.
  • 5+ years of experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services and architecture (AWS).
  • 5+ years of experience building highly scalable mobile products & platforms.
  • 5+ years of experience with Agile delivery.
  • 5+ years of experience in building systems and solutions within a highly regulated environment.
  • Master's Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering).
  • 5+ years in a cloud environment.
