About the position

The Director of Technical Program Management at Capital One is responsible for leading programs that deliver on critical business goals and building large-scale products and platforms. This role involves overseeing the development of mobile and web platforms that enhance customer experiences across various lines of business. The position also focuses on expanding the Technical Program Management (TPM) discipline within the organization, leveraging industry knowledge to guide and mentor the team.

Responsibilities

• Lead programs that deliver on critical business goals and build large-scale products and platforms.
• Oversee the development of mobile and web platforms to enhance customer experiences.
• Expand the Technical Program Management discipline within the team.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the delivery life-cycle.
• Simplify complex technical concepts and drive informed decisions across teams.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, design, and data science representatives to achieve project goals.
• Grow and develop a team of TPMs while building the foundations for the TPM practice.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering).
• At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs.
• Strong technical background in building highly scalable platforms, products, or services.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and influencing skills.
• Experience in building distributed systems and highly available services using cloud computing services, preferably AWS.
• Experience with Agile delivery and managing large, complex programs.

Nice-to-haves

• MBA or Master's Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing.
• 3+ years of experience building highly scalable mobile products and platforms.
