About the position

The Director Total Rewards at WoodmenLife is responsible for leading the strategic planning, design, implementation, and administration of all corporate-wide benefits and compensation programs. This role ensures compliance with regulations while aligning with the organization's human capital objectives. The Director will work closely with senior leadership, finance, and legal teams to maintain competitive and equitable total rewards plans, and will oversee a team dedicated to the day-to-day administration of these programs.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and lead the strategic planning and design of corporate-wide benefits and compensation programs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain competitive total rewards plans.
  • Advise senior leadership on changes to total rewards programs to ensure budget and legal compliance.
  • Evaluate vendor information and internal data to identify trends and make recommendations.
  • Serve as a member of the management team in developing and executing human capital strategies.
  • Lead the organization's Retirement Plan Committee and ensure compliance with ERISA fiduciary principles.
  • Manage vendor relationships for Total Rewards programs and ensure service objectives are met.
  • Establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of total rewards programs.
  • Oversee the annual Total Rewards budgeting process and monitor expenses.
  • Collaborate with the Culture and Talent Development department to deliver wellness programs.
  • Lead communication and education strategies for total rewards programs.
  • Stay informed on emerging regulations and best practices in total rewards management.
  • Develop and mentor a team responsible for total rewards administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10 or more years of experience in designing and managing health/welfare, retirement benefits, and compensation plans.
  • Expert knowledge of ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and other regulatory compliance factors.
  • Demonstrated experience in vendor management and negotiation.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret policies, contracts, and financial reports.

Nice-to-haves

  • HR certifications (SPHR, SHRM-SCP, CEBS, CBP, CCP).
  • Previous experience with the Ceridian Dayforce system.
