About the position

Fidelity's Asset Management Division is seeking a Director of UI Development to join their Quantitative Research and Investing Technology (QRIT) Team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with quantitative analysts, operations, and peer technology teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Your primary focus will be on hands-on UI development and delivery, which necessitates a blend of strong technical and influencing skills. You will be involved in architecture, design, analysis, and evangelizing activities, helping to build scalable, reliable, and efficient tools based on sound engineering practices in areas such as portfolio construction, risk management, and alpha research. As a Director of UI Development, you will be responsible for developing financial applications that meet the needs of investment professionals. This includes building Single Page Web Applications using technologies such as TypeScript, Angular, and PrimeNG Angular Component Library, as well as utilizing charting frameworks like Chart.js or Highcharts. You will also work with AG Grid, REST Service APIs, and JSON, while implementing authentication and authorization technologies such as OAuth. Your expertise in optimizing UI applications for performance and scalability will be crucial in delivering high-quality solutions that enhance decision-making processes. The Quantitative Development team is part of Asset Management's Quantitative Research & Investment Technology group, which partners with investment teams on various projects. The base salary for this position ranges from $103,000 to $218,000 per year, depending on various factors including job responsibilities, geographic location, and relevant experience. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with quantitative analysts and operations to develop UI solutions for financial applications.
  • Lead hands-on UI development and delivery, ensuring high-quality and efficient tools are built.
  • Participate in architecture, design, analysis, and evangelizing activities related to UI development.
  • Optimize UI applications for performance and scalability in financial contexts.
  • Communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including fundamental and quantitative researchers and technology partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in computer science, engineering, statistics, applied mathematics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience developing financial applications and working with investment professionals.
  • Strong technical skills in building Single Page Web Applications using TypeScript and Angular.
  • Experience with PrimeNG Angular Component Library, Chart.js or Highcharts, AG Grid, REST Service API, and JSON.
  • Knowledge of authentication/authorization technologies such as OAuth.
  • Experience with test-driven, object-oriented design and development, and best-practice software design patterns.
  • Familiarity with source/version control, project management software, code quality tools, and continuous integration and deployment tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
