About the position

Fidelity's Asset Management Division is seeking a Director of UI Development to join their Quantitative Research and Investing Technology (QRIT) Team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with quantitative analysts, operations, and peer technology teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Your primary focus will be on hands-on UI development and delivery, which necessitates a blend of strong technical and influencing skills. You will participate in architecture, design, analysis, and evangelizing activities, helping to build scalable, reliable, and efficient tools based on sound engineering practices in areas such as portfolio construction, risk management, and alpha research. The Director of UI Development will be responsible for developing financial applications and working with investment professionals. You will leverage your technical and programming skills to build Single Page Web Applications using technologies such as TypeScript, Angular, and REST Service APIs. Your experience in optimizing UI applications for performance and scalability will be crucial, as will your knowledge of financial instruments, markets, and models. You will also be expected to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including fundamental and quantitative researchers and technology partners, ensuring that the solutions developed meet the needs of the business. The Quantitative Development team is part of Asset Management's Quantitative Research & Investment Technology group, which partners with investment teams on various projects. Responsibilities

  • Lead the UI development efforts for financial applications within the QRIT team.
  • Collaborate with quantitative analysts and operations to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Participate in architecture, design, and analysis activities to ensure sound engineering practices are followed.
  • Optimize UI applications for performance and scalability, ensuring a high-quality user experience.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including researchers and technology partners, to align on project goals and deliverables.
  • Mentor and guide junior developers in best practices for UI development and project management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in computer science, engineering, statistics, applied mathematics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience developing financial applications and working with investment professionals.
  • Strong technical skills in building Single Page Web Applications using TypeScript, Angular, and REST Service APIs.
  • Experience with authentication/authorization technologies such as OAuth.
  • Knowledge of financial instruments, financial markets, financial models, and statistics.
  • Experience with test-driven, object-oriented design and development, and best-practice software design patterns.
  • Familiarity with source/version control, project management software, and continuous integration and deployment tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with PrimeNG Angular Component Library, Chart.js or Highcharts charting frameworks, and AG Grid.
  • Familiarity with project management software and code quality tools.
