About the position

The Director of User Experience at McKesson is a pivotal role responsible for leading a talented team of UX professionals, including researchers, designers, operations specialists, and managers. This position is integral to guiding and unifying the evolution of CoverMyMeds (CMM) products through a robust user experience strategy. The Director will employ Research and Design methodologies to influence both strategic and business outcomes, ensuring that the needs of product stakeholders are met through effective partnership and collaboration. A successful UX Director will foster a highly engaged team environment, emphasizing professional development and coaching for UX professionals. In this role, the Director will set the strategic direction for the UX team, aligning their work with the broader organizational strategy. They will act as a talent champion, attracting and retaining top talent while enabling rewarding career paths for the UX team within CMM and McKesson. Additionally, the Director will manage the budget for the UX team, overseeing vendor management, tools, and employee expenses. Leadership is a key component of this role, as the Director will drive high employee engagement and navigate dynamic environments, providing on-the-job growth experiences and autonomy for team members. The Director will also serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in user experience, demonstrating a deep understanding of the discipline and applying best practices across various workstreams. They will define the UX strategy and vision, establishing both short and long-term priorities to meet business needs. Advocacy for the user experience team is crucial, as the Director will work to increase support and awareness across the organization, highlighting the benefits of engaging with the UX team. Collaboration with product stakeholders will be essential to deliver a cohesive customer experience, and the Director will enable the team to present user insights to key stakeholders, facilitating meaningful discussions based on user experience research.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of UX professionals, including researchers, designers, and managers.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant UX, product, healthcare, and general leadership experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role, preferably leading other leaders.
  • Deep understanding of User Experience Research and Design methodologies.
  • General business acumen, including knowledge of product contributions to P&L.
  • Experience managing a distributed team across multiple product areas.
  • Ability to coach and mentor people leaders and develop a strong leadership team.
  • Experience working within OKR/Goalsetting frameworks.
  • Strong executive presentation and storytelling skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree or relevant advanced certification is preferred.
