About the position

The Director of US Market Access Payer Marketing and Strategy at AbbVie is responsible for leading the payer strategy for the company's $8B Specialty Portfolio. This role involves overseeing product positioning, pricing strategy, financial planning, and resource investment to ensure patient access to AbbVie's pharmaceutical products across various payer and distribution channels. The position requires a deep understanding of the US healthcare landscape and market access channels, as well as collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to drive effective market access strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overarching leadership and direction for Payer strategy for the $8B Specialty Portfolio, including Pricing and Access Value Proposition.
  • Lead lifecycle recommendations for the Specialty portfolio, identifying opportunities for alternative access, pricing, and distribution models.
  • Set tone and priorities for the direct team of directors and associate directors, focusing on coaching and talent management.
  • Influence and persuade multiple external and internal stakeholders, serving as the primary contact for brand teams and the US Market Access organization.
  • Lead the Market Access portion of the yearly financial planning process, incorporating latest contract negotiations and strategies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on Market Access issues, providing input for cross-functional recommendations.
  • Utilize research and insights to innovate and optimize investment and formulate channel access and pricing strategies.
  • Establish close bridges with internal and external stakeholders to inform product access and pricing strategies.
  • Lead the transference of Channel knowledge throughout the organization to enable optimum access for the portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Advanced Degree/Masters in a related healthcare field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Pharmaceutical Market Access, Healthcare, or Policy experience.
  • Cross-functional experience including field sales, finance, regulatory, and HEOR.
  • Demonstrated high proficiency in Marketing skills framework: Insights, Segmentation, Positioning, Value Proposition, Business Model Innovation, Creative Development, and Investment Optimization.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build stakeholder relationships across company functions.
  • Knowledge of the US access, reimbursement, and pricing landscape for pharmaceutical products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with pharmaceutical marketing principles and practices.
  • Managed markets/market access experience within non-pharma healthcare organizations.
