About the position

The Director of US Oncology Pipeline and Portfolio Strategy at Merck Sharp & Dohme is responsible for leading the development and execution of product strategies for oncology assets in the US market. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including global and US marketing teams, to ensure a seamless transition from development to launch. The director will monitor market trends, evaluate competitive dynamics, and shape both scientific and commercial strategies to maximize business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of new product strategies for multiple tumors and assets in the US market.
  • Develop clear and innovative pipeline strategies for assets in collaboration with global and US tumor and asset marketing leaders.
  • Ensure incorporation of US commercial input into clinical trial development and global asset strategy development.
  • Shape scientific and commercial strategies for pipeline assets, including unbranded strategies and go-to-market strategies.
  • Execute early US marketing activities including foundational market research and market landscape mapping.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of external market trends and competitive dynamics on pipeline and portfolio strategy.
  • Embed a portfolio view in New Product planning by considering internal and external pipeline programs.
  • Identify gaps in products, diseases, or customer understanding and implement plans to address those gaps.
  • Foster strong partnerships with tumor marketing teams and cross-functional partners to maximize business opportunities.
  • Demonstrate effective cross-functional leadership and a proven track record in creating and executing successful strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in strategic marketing, new product marketing, or early pipeline strategy roles within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading the development and commercialization of new products.
  • Strong understanding of market dynamics, trends, and competitive landscape in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration and leadership abilities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
